rmDATA Projects is successfully used as an organizational solution in surveying and engineering offices not only in Austria, but also in Bavaria.
Schmechtig Vermessung GmbH from Ergoldsbach in Bavaria has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. The services are diverse and range from surveying, photogrammetry, laser scanning and satellite surveying to expert services and geoinformation.
"We are a young, motivated team with a lot of experience in all areas of surveying," says Nadine Fischer, partner of the office, in an interview with GeoNews. As the "oldest" member of the office team, the young geomatics engineer has been with the Schmechtig office since 2012, where she started out as an apprentice: "I learned surveying from the ground up." While she used to spend a lot of time in the field, she now mainly manages projects in the office, including bookkeeping and project accounting.
The team has been using rmDATA products for calculation and plan creation for many years and has now also opted for the rmDATA Projects organizational solution for project management and time recording. "We appreciate functions such as the direct transfer of project attributes into the planning data," says the geomatics engineer, explaining this step and referring to the consistent data flow within the products.

In combination with the geomatics software, new projects can be created, existing files opened and the location of projects clearly displayed.

"Now all the information about a project is in one place and every one of my colleagues can access it," explains Nadine Fischer, adding: "So nothing can be forgotten." Ongoing, planned and completed projects can be tracked at any time. Team leaders can keep track of overtime and vacation balances and structured task management rounds off the range of functions offered by Projects. The geomatics expert regularly uses the analysis functions in Projects for quality assurance, for example to check package offers.
Ongoing enhancements
The employees at Schmechtig record their working hours directly in the system and assign their activities to projects. They can do this both in the field via the GeoProjects app and in the office. "The mobile application for time recording is very simple and self-explanatory," confirms the geomatics engineer, although she still has to do some convincing before all colleagues use the app in their daily work.
The organizational software is constantly being expanded. For example, resource planning has been implemented in the current version to document hardware, company cars and materials used. "The topic of e-invoicing will be interesting in Germany in the future," says Nadine Fischer, "we are in constant contact with rmDATA about this and have been promised a standard-compliant implementation."
