On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, axmann geoinformation welcomed Safe Software founder and CEO Don Murray to the UniCredit Center "Am Kaiserwasser" in Vienna for a special insider event, the "TechTalk". The visit offered customers and partners the rare opportunity to take a direct look behind the scenes of the FME platform and to personally exchange ideas with one of the formative minds of the data integration industry.
Key note by Don Murray
The focus was on FME's current technological trends - from its origins as an ETL tool for geodata to a fully-fledged enterprise data integration platform. In his keynote "Building the backbone of the AI Era: From Integration to Orchestration", Don Murray gave exclusive insights into the next development stage of FME and impressively demonstrated how versatile the platform can be used in companies today.
FME user presentations
Practice-oriented customer presentations then demonstrated the wide range of uses of FME beyond classic geodata applications: Innovations around CAD2BIM processes at Vienna Airport, presented by Jan Morten Loës, VIE Build GmbH or insights into civil-military data integration at Austro Control by Klaus Gäbler or examples of why FME is considered the "Swiss army knife of data integration" at OMV Energy, provided by Pawel Baranowski.
Panel Discussion
In the interactive live panel talk, Christoph Kircher, Managing Director of axmann geoinformation, spoke in a relaxed atmosphere with Don Murray about the role of FME in a networked world. The discussion provided space for questions from the audience, discussions and a lively exchange about the future of data integration.
The event ended in a relaxed atmosphere over lunch, giving participants the opportunity to network personally with Don Murray and other FME experts.
